When I was 16, I began leading group cello classes in my local school district. This experience was incredibly formative and soon I knew that teaching would always be a big part of my life. Through this work, I became involved in El Sistema USA and started exploring music pedagogy traditions from around the world. I am a certified Suzuki instructor and have taught in a wide range of educational settings. I draw on this background with the goal of creating personalized and meaningful learning experiences for all of my students.
I believe that community is an integral part of music education. In the summer of 2020, I partnered with teachers from around the world in creating the CelloBello Teacher Training Seminar. I’m continually inspired by the global network of dedicated cello teachers and our ability to support one another in providing our students with the tools they need to grow. For the last 10 years, I have engaged with meditation and movement practices to inform both my own cello playing and my teaching. Feel free to contact me for a trial lesson–I teach students of all ages and abilities both virtually and from my home studio in Somerville, MA!
